For Watertown Library Trustee
Motivated to Make a Difference
Committed to keeping the library as welcoming for your family as it was for mine
Dedicated to defending the library as a community institution for literacy, education, and democracy
Why the library?
My family and I moved to Watertown in 2023. It was the library that made Watertown immediately feel like home. My son is now three, and together we've attended practically every library program he's aged into. The library has offered books, photocopiers, memberships or discounts to nearby museums, and so much more. Each and every librarian has been both welcoming and an expert in their field.
I want to make sure the library feels like home for you, just as much as it did for us. That means strengthening community partnerships, expanding flagship programs while building new ones, and growing the library's resources so it can continue to offer a diverse collection that meets its patrons' changing needs. More than anything, it means defending the library's commitment to accessibility and the freedom of information so that it can continue to be a pillar of our democracy, even as these fundamental values are coming under attack nationwide.
Breaking things is easy. Improving them requires care, thoughtfulness, and diligent cooperation from everyone involved. That's what I intend to bring to the board.
Goals
Uphold the library's commitment to intellectual freedom
Oppose censorship, which degrades the library's value as a public institution and undermines its role in preserving democracy
Strengthen community partnerships and foster new relationships
Ensure the library remains as accessible and valuable a resource for the entire community as it has been for my family
